Call on Shimon Fogel to engage in a public session on BDS

Dear Mr. Fogel, I am calling on you to engage in a public session on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, as you had agreed to at the Canadian International Council event on March 6, 2014. It is significant that the Canadian government has referred to the BDS movement as a form of anti-Semitism on numerous occasions, and has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Israeli government to oppose it. The BDS movement has been unequivocal in its condemnation of all forms of bigotry, including anti-Semitism. Meanwhile, you have devoted significant resources towards lobbying the Canadian government and opposition party members to accept the idea that the BDS movement represents a new form of anti-Semitism. If you have confidence in your convictions, then I trust that you will accept the invitation by Independent Jewish Voices - Canada, and/or other civil society organizations, to engage in a public session on this issue. It would be of significant value to all Canadians that this issue of such interest to the Canadian government be deliberated over in a public and transparent manner with voices representing all sides of the issue.
