Independent Jewish Voices (IJV) Canada presents “Gaza: Spoken Songs for the Silent”, a fundraiser in support of Gaza Community Mental Health Program through the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA).
Join us at Beit Zatoun (612 Markham Street, Toronto ON) on Saturday, June 27th, 2015 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm for an evening of poetry performances by internationally renowned spoken word artists from across Southern Ontario (Guelph, Toronto and Ottawa), musical performances by local artists, as well as a silent auction of offerings donated by local community members.
The Gaza Community Mental Health Program (GCMHP) was established in 1990 by Dr. Eyad el-Sarraj to meet the mental health needs of people who were exposed on a daily basis to humiliation, loss of freedom, injury, detention, destruction of homes and the loss of family members. Much of GCMHP’s work is directed at helping traumatized children, women who are victims of violence, and the victims of torture.
All proceeds from ticket sales, silent auction and additional donations will be donated to Gaza Community Mental Health Program via the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) – http://www.mecaforpeace.org
