Muslims for Progressive Values Canada Condemns Gatineau Mosque Violation

OTTAWA – Muslims for Progressive Values Canada is a contemporary voice of Islam. Its members affirm that justice and compassion should be the guiding principles for all aspects of human conduct. We repudiate militarism and violence, whether on an individual, organizational, or national level. As such we condemn the vandalization of any house of worship, and are shocked and saddened by the recent vandalism of a mosque in Gatineau, Quebec.

When a mosque is vandalized, a crime is committed not only against the Muslims who gather in prayer at that mosque, not only against the broader Muslim community, but against people of all faiths, everywhere. The vandalization of a house of worship calls into question the safety and security of people of all faiths to gather in worship anywhere in our community.

We ask our community leaders, of all faiths to condemn this act, as we are all brothers and sisters in humanity.

Please share our statement with your networks.
